Our Story

ARTHUR + McAULEY, was born from a love of, and a need for, simple moments, nostalgic scents, and being connected to the things that inspire us and give us peace in this busy world.

For me, candles have always meant home. Growing up, my mother, who was born and raised in Europe, had a tradition of lighting candles for all kinds of occasions that were special. Whatever the occasion, we knew it was her way of holding that moment as one to be held in a more meaningful way. We knew it was her way of sending love and good energy into the world. It's a tradition that I have carried on in my own life and I carry it forward into every candle I pour.

My father gave me a different kind of inspiration. A love for Canada, it's rugged landscapes and changing seasons were something we both shared. He encouraged me to explore every province and coastline, and to take in the beauty of our wide open landscapes and varied places, communities and people. All those experiences are now being shared with our 3 daughters and those experiences live in every fragrance: a reminder of places and moments that make this country feel like home.

As we are rooted to this place, it's also important for us to give back.  Allowing future generations to enjoy the land along our shores and in between. Every candle sold allows us to contribute to environmental initiatives that we believe will help preserve it. Through projects such as The Bruce Trail Conservancy, The Georgian Bay Land Trust Association, or replanting initiatives across Canada, we can ensure that we can enjoy this land of ours for years and generations to come.

If you've come this far in our story, you probably love candles as much as we do! Named after the place I now call home, on the corner of ARTHUR + McAULEY, I hope to pass along a blend of the simplicity of home and the nostalgia of remembered moments to you - inviting you (and me too!) to slow down, light a candle and savour a special moment in this beautiful, messy and wonderful life!
